Lari Don, the brilliant author of the First Aid for Fairies series and Rocking Horse War, has updated her website with some fantastic new features. She’s added a new Q&A section which is a little bit special. The questions are asked by the characters in her books First Aid for Fairies and Other Fabled Beasts and Wolf Notes and Other Musical Mishaps with a little help from some of Lari’s friends at Iverkip Primary School.

Here’s a little teaser of the arguments – I mean conversations – that Lari has with her characters…

Yann (the centaur): Why did you make me so grumpy?
Lari Don: Come on, mate. I didn’t make you grumpy. You ARRIVED grumpy. It was nothing to do with me.

Yann: Why did you make me a centaur?
Lari Don:You’d prefer to be a unicorn? Communicating through hoofstamping, and tossing your mane? Pearl white and all shimmery? As a centaur you’re cool, elegant, strong, fast, proud, a bit scary (or at least a bit off-putting) and because you have a boy’s head, you can talk (and talk and talk…)

Yann: Why does Helen have to be so helpful?
Lari Don: That annoys you doesn’t it? It makes her harder to dislike, and harder for you to claim that all humans are horrible. She’s just naturally helpful. Just like you’re naturally grumpy!

You can read all the questions and answers on Lari’s updated website at www.laridon.co.uk. Lari has also started her very own blog where she will write all about her day-to-day life as a children’s author, the places that she visits and the people that she meets. Why not see whether she has written anything about you?!
